3 Tips on How to Survive the Day After Labor Day

Our guess is that you’re reading this and it’s Tuesday, the day after Labor Day. Also guessing that you are hungover. Massively. It’s highly likely that you have a raging headache, perhaps a little bit of nausea and possibly a lot of regrets.

We were tempted to simply state that the best way to deal with the post-LD blues is to throw back as much GoMo tea as possible. But that would be selfish. And this isn’t about us. It’s about you and your raging hangover.

Soooo, on that note, here are a couple of tips for surviving your day.

1. Drink lots of water. We know this is a big DUH, but you need to hydrate. And know how hard this can be, especially if you are having stomach issues. Sometimes the last thing you want to do is drink a lot more of anything. When you drink, the hormone that conserves fluid from When you drink alcohol, it inhibits the secretion of a hormone from your brain that conserves fluid from your kidneys. Even if you do drink water and eat while boozing, you’re still losing vital nutrients and fluids and can become dehyrated. Dehydration is the Devil. Hopefully you drank at least a glass of water before you went to be. Continue this trend by drinking more steadily throughout the day.

2. If you have to take something for a hangover headache, stay away from acetaminophen. Good old Tylenol doesn’t play well with alcohol if you’ve consumed too much alcohol and can reek havoc on your liver. Your liver is already pissed at you for last night (and likely this weekend too), don’t give it any more reasons to revolt in anger, pop some Advil instead.

3.  Pop a B Vitamin. Put on your sunglasses to avoid the blinding, taunting sunlight, go to the store and get some B6 if you don’t have any at home (in pill form or brewer’s yeast if you’re feeling adventurous).  Studies have shown that B6 or pyritinol helps combat the effects of overconsumption of alcohol. (PS, GoMo’s custom blend contains pyritinol. Just sayin’…)

Alright, there you go, a few tips to help you get through the hell that is the day after Labor Day. Good luck and godspeed.

Details Magazine: The 7 Best Foods and Drinks to Cure a Hangover

Checking out the Details Blog post on 7 foods and drinks that help you get through your hangover. It’s a shame we weren’t included on that list. Why? GoMo is a kickass hangover cure. Our blend of tea and supplements contains much of what is cited in this article. GoMo’s curated blend contains green tea, L-theanine, ginger root, Vitamin C and a Vitamin B derivative. And it hydrates. Often, while hungover, we’ve found that trying to force food down our gullets is not the most awesome thing to do. Just sayin’.

Here’s the link to that Details blog post again. Check it out.

7 Reasons Why GoMo is a Kickass Hangover Recovery Helper

IMG_20130820_081902

GoMo Detox Tea, which just launched, is a curated blend of teas and supplements to help you recover more quickly from hangovers (and jet lag). GoMo is Kickass. Why, you say? Well, here’s 7 reasons.

1. GoMo contains Vitamin C:  Good old Vitamin C, how are you friend? You’ve heard so much about VC (as we like to call him – we’ve somehow decided its a him), particularly the moment you tell someone that you’re feeling like you’re coming down with something. Grab some Vitamin C, drink some OJ. Well, VC is a potent antioxidant that helps remove toxins from the body. Dehydration from imbibing often depletes vitamin C and hampers the body’s ability to recover quickly. GoMo gives you a little VC boost.

2. Have you seen the hangover otter? What we see on the face of that beautiful, majestic creature just trying to get some rest while his neighbors are being very inconsiderate is nausea. Headache and nausea. And what helps with nausea? Ginger root. Ginger root is effective in reducing nausea (which often accompanies a hard night out) while increasing fluids – which, you know, you need.

3. Chinese culture has been around a long time. And they have produced some of the most hardcore alcoholic beverages known to man (we know this from experience – hello white lightning). The Yunnan Pu’erh Tea that we include in our curated blend is widely believed in Chinese cultures to counteract the unpleasant effects of heavy alcohol consumption.

4. Remember hangover otter, trying to get a little rest? Well besides nausea and headaches being very distracting and not very conducive to sleep, drinking loads of alcohol (or taking loads of other substances that shall remain nameless but usually fall under the umbrella of what we call drugs) can disturb serotonin levels. We thought it might be a good idea to include the beautiful supplement/nootropic 5-HTP to combat this very problem. 5-HTP is an amino acid that occurs naturally in the body, and when taken in supplement form 5-HTP raises serotonin levels in the brain which can be disturbed by alcohol consumption and promotes restful sleep.

5. Speaking of sleep, the stress that alcohol (and international travel) puts on your body can disturb sleep patterns (another thing we have experienced first hand – and sleep deprivation is not a pretty site around these parts). Not only will 5-HTP help promote restful sleep, but the naturally occuring L-theanine from our Jasmin Green Tea that is included in the blend – plus the extra shot of L-theanine we’ve added to the mix – is known to reduce physical and mental stress.

6. Don’t need sleep? Or rather, can’t sleep because you have to go to work? Because GoMo is in tea form that is easily disguised as just a regular cup of tea. There’s no tell tale signs of hungovery (we’re going with it) like with Vitamin Water Revive, etc. And the L-theanine also helps with cognition and boosts mood and cognitive performance. Remember, not only does alcohol make you hangover, it makes you stupid.

7. With all this talk of supplements and tea, we haven’t talked about taste. Well, we didn’t skimp on that either. The flavor profile is a unique blend of green tea, pu’erh tea and ginger root (the other supplements are much less noticable). Though the pu’erh tends to be the most pronounced flavor initially, the green tea and ginger root tend to be the finishing palates.

In short, GoMo kicks ass. Getchu some.
